It's especially relevant because Bryan Singer was apparently trying to make a movie that would slot in after "Superman II"*, and Routh is basically playing Christopher Reeve's Superman.
I do think "Superman Returns" is an underrated movie, because it's a big budget blockbuster about the loneliness of a god -- he spends the movie gradually learning how to get over Lois Lane and grieving over how he's the lone Kryptonian left. But it is pretty strange that Singer watched the four Christopher Reeve movies and thought, "This guy seems like a sad person."
*Canonically, you could argue that "Superman Returns" would happen after "Superman", "Superman II" and "Supergirl", considering that in "Supergirl" they explain Superman's absence by claiming he's on "a space mission" and "Superman Returns" does deal with his being on a five-year space mission.
No love for my man Brandon Routh?

I've never seen that one! I liked him in Scott Pilgrim!

I love Reeves and always enjoyed reading about his friendship with Robin Williams. I'll have to check this one out. Thanks, Rob!
Thanks Beth! There’s quite a lot in the film about how close they were and how much Robin and his wife supported the family.
